A tricky person to pin down, even more difficult to define. Her interests have always been manifold but if there is a constant to be found, it is an unshakeable love of the natural world. Ever a bibliophile, she grew up devouring mythologies, almanacs, and encyclopedias. Naturally, she studied classical civilisations, Latin, and Ancient Greek in high school alongside the natural sciences. Growing herbs in the garden at home, she cultivated practical botanical skills.
Her university studies began on the Isle of Skye; now at UBC, she has created her own unique program through Interdisciplinary Studies, integrating biology and ecology with philosophy and Indigenous Ways of Knowing. She thus balances the rigor of the scientific method with a critical humanistic lens, seeking lessons from the earth to promote holistic health on all scales of life.
She began learning about skin under her mother through ARTEBELLA in the Netherlands. Instructed by her mother’s teacher, she had Aesthetics Training from the National Aesthetics Institute, learning the theory and practical skills necessary. Her innate interdisciplinarity combined with these skills and foundation in natural health led her to combining treatments, with customized herbal essences, oils, and healing touch. Now in Canada, she has taken on more responsibility and creative direction, managing the business to meet her high standards.
To Kira, natural science, philosophy, and art are not so distinct as they might seem, but are all different facets of the same principles. It is her goal to assist and guide, and to turn wellness into an art form, guided by a philosophy of strong ethics and care: for the client and for the world at large.
