With over 30 years’ experience in medical skincare, Anita’s passion for her profession is undeniable.
She began her journey into the world of aesthetics in her early teens, experimenting with makeup and cosmetics with and on her friends and family. In later years, she travelled to Switzerland, teaming up with a biochemist to develop an organic botanical skincare line. From here, her career path was set.
Over the decades since, she has worked with plastic surgeons, assisting and observing procedures and coming to intimately understand the form and function of skin.
After the project in Switzerland, she moved to the US and founded her first international skincare company. While living in the southwestern states, Anita observed first-hand the environmental impact of living under the desert sun.
She enrolled in the Aesthetics College and obtained her state licensure, becoming the first aesthetician in the state to work under a plastic surgeon. Her studies had included holistic, clinical, and medical skin care therapies. Of course, the real classroom was to be the operating room, where she closely observed a multitude of surgical procedures of both face and body. Observing these procedures helped her understand human physiology and the knowledge required to determine the appropriate and effective treatment courses for various concerns and conditions.
With more experience, she came to assist with certain minor surgical procedures of the face and body. She was able to perform all procedures of medical aesthetics, from dermaplaning and advanced chemical peels (including TCA, Jessners, and even preparing phenol peels by hand) to laser and light therapies. In these settings, one learns the importance of sterility, of the quality of treatment, and the balance of risk and benefit in health care.
In order to achieve optimal results, the surgeon found that proper skin care as preparation for operations was imperative. In some cases, patients would cancel surgery when they discovered just how effective skincare alone could be. Anita was in charge of pre- and post- surgical care and was the clinic’s expert practitioner of injectables and sclerotherapy. Anita’s fascination with the science and research of product ingredients and selecting the most result-oriented product lines available led to her success in the field of medical skincare. With over 9000 patients serviced in the surgical practice and skincare spa, Anita set the standards in medical aesthetics and began training newer aestheticians on the policies and procedures of working in a medical practice.
After 25 years in the USA, she returned to her mother-country, compiling her medical aesthetics knowledge to develop ARTEBELLA Skin Health in the Netherlands. Her vision for the company is to offer the best that nature and science can offer in an environment of tranquility and peace, grounded in a philosophy of inner beauty and health.
